If a doula were a drug it would be unethical not to use it.
-John Kennel

My name is Catherine Knight. I was born and raised in the Yukon but have been settled on Vancouver Island with my husband for 22 years. I am a mother of four teenage daughters, a birth, postpartum and end of life doula. I trained at The Mothering Touch for the D.O.N.A birth and postpartum training. I completed a 20 hour breast-feeding course and the End of Life Doula Course through the Douglas College. I maintain a current St. John’s First Aid certification. I have been a successful hairstylist for the last 19 years in the Sidney community and am in the midst of phasing out of this career into a doula life.
I was lucky enough to have midwives guide me through my pregnancies. My wish is to share my courage and love of labour, delivery and parenting an infant with new families and to provide strength and encouragement through positive words and caring touch.

My vision as aBirth and Postpartum Doula
As a doula, it is my mission to support, protect and help educate women, couples and families through their birth and the first three months. Labour is hard and intense and it doesn’t have to leave a woman feeling weak and cheated. The first three months of life are complicated and sleep deprived and having a community to support will help families bond and settle into their new life. I want to empower women, birthing people and supporting partners through love and encouragement. I am here to share my energy when parents feel scared through touch, support and knowledge.

My vision for End of Life Doulacare
Death is assured. My mission is to provide comfort, relief, a level head and knowledge throughout the process of death. The path to the end should be loving and caring and our palliative treatment can keep the entire family involved and supported. Our community is stronger when we support each other through the joys and grief of life from birth to death.
